St Andrew's Church Project

 CALDERDALE LITTER BUSTERS AT
ST ANDREW's CHURCH HOLMFIELD

Big Tidy Up comes to St Andrew's Churchyard, Holmfield

A community clean up event took place at St. Andrew's churchyard, Holmfield, at the weekend.

The action day was organised by local resident Andrew Tagg, who has set up a Calderdale Litter Busters campaign on Facebook.

Andrew said "The church is a well used community facility but the land is privately owned and has become a real eyesore. Several local people have voiced their frustrations so I decided to take action."

As part of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, Andrew ordered litter bags from the bigtidyup.org website to use during the clean up.  As well as support from Conservative Councillors, a number of local residents came along bringing strimmers, cutters and other equipment to aid the clean up effort.

Andrew continued "Often all local people are looking for is someone to take the first step in organising events such as this one.  It creates a great community spirit and encourages residents to work together to enhance their neighbourhood.  It was a really successful day and has vastly improved the area."
