Royal Assent was given and the Bill became the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011, meaning that the ball is now formally rolling for the AV referendum on May 5th - and indeed for the Boundary Commission to reduce the number of constituencies from 650 to 600.
In the recent public consultation by our LD/LAB council on the Governments proposals for so called " cuts " in local government funding one of the lowest priorities given was for Tourism. This has been followed by their Budget proposals for the ' Safer and Sronger Communities Directorate ' by making savings of £35k in2011/12 and £75k in future years.
