Welcome to the Halifax Conservatives
Message from Chairman Roger Simpson.
" We had an excellent candidate in Philip Allott, who fought an outstanding campaign with wonderful support from local members and our effort in Halifax was a great disappointment to us.
We achieved a great momentum and we are trying to maintain that and build on it, by re-vitalising, and in some cases re-establishing branches.
This is happening as the North Halifax Branch has already been set up by Andrew and Karen Tagg and a new group of members.
All the other branches have had meetings and events are being organised to raise funds and maintain interest.
There is good co-operation with Calder Valley and wea re currently interviewing Candidates for the 2011 Calderdale Council elections.
A Campaign Committee has been established under the Chairmanship of Councillor Amanda Byrne and all the seats in Calderdale are being prioritized so that we target out joint resources on those seats where we have the best chance of success.
The aim is to take overall control of Calderdale Council in 2011.
So there is a lot going on and we hope we can all keep up the good work "
Philip sends all our supporters this message
I would like to thank the 14,806 constituents who voted Conservative in Halifax on May 6th
The result was close and the Conservative Party fell short of winning by just 1,473 votes.
During the last three years of campaigning I have received a large amount of support from members of the community, who I would also like to thank.
In the lead up to the general election Halifax had the highest number of recently appointed Conservative Cabinet Ministers visit than just about anywhere else in Yorkshire, which should hopefully now ensure that the town gets the future attention it deserves.
Once again many thanks for your support and the Conservative campaign to regain the seat continues.
